Personal Info

Do you often feel weighed down by feelings of feeling down, hopeless, or experience feelings of anxiety because nobody seems to be able to relate to you? If you find it difficult to disclose these issues and feel alone regularly as a result, come talk to me.

Growing up a multi-ethnic minority and living within enclaves of minorities as well as being surrounded with friends and family members who suffered from mental health conditions–some of which led to suicide and overdose–motivated my desire to want to work in psychiatry. The reason I was motivated to enter the medical field was because I felt someone like myself lacked representation and I often feared I would be “judged” by my clinician or that psychiatrists were not culturally competent enough to really understand my worldview.

I began my career as a crisis line volunteer operator as a teenager in Metro Detroit and started my undergraduate degree at Wayne State University with a major in psychology. There, I was able to engage in researching toluene, a chemical solvent that is often abused in lower socioeconomic demographics. I later serviced the community as a EMT and often encountered psychiatric patients in transport to hospitals. I completed my training as a physician associate at Miami Dade College Medical campus and began practicing medicine as a bilingual (Spanish/English) licensed PA-C in 2018.
