Personal Info

Greetings!
My name is LaTosha Howard, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In practice, the most important focus is my clients and their environment. I specialize in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, women’s issues, sexual abuse, and stress. When providing therapy to clients, my approach is client-centered and holistic. I feel that every client, including their situations, are unique. Therefore, everyone requires individualized treatment. My most common theoretical approaches are CBT, CPT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and
Strengths-Based. In practice, I typically work with clients between the ages of 13-65. Many of my
clients are dealing with the effects of trauma and/or experiencing symptoms of anxiety/depression. I am highly experienced in treating trauma, anxiety, and depression as a result.
I pride myself on creating a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for my clients. The most important goal is to help the client find a solution and/or desirable outcome. Working with me feels very inviting and calming, which is necessary in a therapeutic relationship.
When it comes to goal setting, I ensure that my clients are directly involved in the process. The clients are the authors of their stories and the expert on their life experiences. I am there to assist them in getting what they need out of therapy.
During the first session, clients should expect to exchange a great deal of dialogue about their lives and presenting issues, according to their comfort level. I believe in letting the client disclose what they are comfortable with, nothing more. As the therapeutic relationship grows, the necessary information for optimal treatment is usually provided at some point.
When I began working in social services (child welfare) many years ago, I started to notice some things about myself. In continuing to do the work for years, I realized that I was committed to helping children and families but more drawn to their stories, the reasons they came to be involved with our agency in the first place. I’m driven to do the work by seeing my clients solve their issues and/or get
better after treatment. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than their progress.
